Silicon Valley designs much of the software and electronics for the entire world. On a trail above the valley, I meet engineers from Germany, India, Russia, and China, who work at some of the tech giants below. Engineers stay at Apple, Facebook, Google for an average of two to three years. Then they either made their mark and move to one of the large houses in the hills or look for a new challenge. If one of the big companies in Silicon Valley has hired you, you can work almost anywhere in the industry.
Some stunning vistas line the drive from Silicon Valley to Los Angeles. El Matador in Malibu is a favorite for photo shoots for professionals, amateurs, and couples. Many of them use phones with software that some of the people I met in the hills of Silicon Valley might have written.

Auf einem Wanderweg über dem Valley treffe ich Programmierer aus Deutschland, Indien, Russland und China, die bei den Tech-Giganten arbeiten. Normalerweise bleibt ein Programmierer zwei bis drei Jahre bei Apple, Facebook, oder Google. Danach hat er entweder genug verdient, so dass er in eine der Villen in den Hügeln über dem Tal einzieht. Sonst sucht er anderswo nach einer neuen Herausforderung. Wer bei einer Firma in Silicon Valley gearbeitet hat, wird keine Schwierigkeiten bei der Jobsuche haben.
Auf dem Weg nach Los Angeles liegen einige spektakuläre Aussichtspunkte. El Matador Beach in Malibu ist ein beliebter Strand für Fotoshoots bei Profis, Amateuren und Liebespärchen. Zum Fotografieren benutzen viele von ihnen Telefone, die vielleicht jemand entworfen hat, den ich auf der Wanderung in Silicon Valley getroffen habe.
